Southgate Solar Project Moves Ahead
A 400-acre solar energy development in Southgate Township took a major step forward Wednesday.
Southgate council agreed to become a willing host to the $200-million development by Samsung Energy. The project will cover about 400 acres at the northwest end of the township.
Only councilor Kim Peeters voted against the motion. She says she is not opposed to the development as such, but wanted to know more about the overall agreement with Samsung before agreeing to be a willing host.
Southgate earlier proclaimed itself an unwilling host to a major wind farm proposal by Samsung.
