Bluewater Budget Means Tax Reduction for Some

There’s some good news for taxpayers in the Municipality of Bluewater. Council has approved a draft budget that shows a levy increase of a little over three-and-a-half per cent. That translates into a tax decrease of almost two per cent.

C-A-O Steve McAuley says growth and assessment are factors in the actual tax rate. He adds they do have to raise a little more money this year but if a property owner’s assessment hasn’t changed, they will see a reduction in this year’s tax bill.

McAuley also points out the consolidated figure, with the county and education levy included, actually reduces the tax rate further to just over three per cent.

Staff and councillors are anxious to present the budget at a public meeting and get it approved.
