Plans For Medical Marijuana Facility In Hanover

A Hamilton-based company hopes to be producing medical marijuana in Hanover by this time next year.

Officials with Alternative Medical Solutions met the media Monday in Hanover to explain their plans.

The company has bought a nearly 4-acre site in Hanover’s industrial park and plans to build a 50-thousand square foot facility to grow medical marijuana.

There are still some hurdles to clear, first the company needs a Health Canada permit to proceed.

Company director Steven Barber says its hoped that will happen by June.

He says assuming that happens, the company will have the plant built by September, but will still need a Health Canada licence to grow the marijuana.    However, company officials are confident that will happen.

Barber says security at the facility will be like Fort Knox.
