Saugeen and Maitland Flood Threats Ease

Local flooding concerns have eased. A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Saugeen River system. The SVCA’s Flood Forecast Centre says flows from Walkerton and upstream have stabilized, but will remain high through the rest of the week.

The level of the Saugeen River at Paisley is starting to drop.   No significant rainfall is expected in the next few days, and the snowfall today is not expected to have any effect.   But water levels will continue to be high for the next few days.

Several Bruce County roads are CLOSED today due to flooding:
Bruce Road 6 East from Bruce Road 28 to Bruce Road 12.
Bruce Road 1 from Duke Street to Wellington Street in Paisley.

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has downgraded the Flood Warning for Harriston and the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds to a Watershed Conditions Statement.     MVCA says both watersheds received less than 10 millimeters of rain, and levels in Harriston continue to drop.

The water level in the Lower Maitland River from Wingham to Goderich will remain very high the next several days.
