All GBHS Hospitals Soon To Be Smoke Free

All Grey Bruce Health Service hospital properties will soon be smoke free.

That includes the hospitals parking lots, walkways and lawns. The move is a joint initiative among all of the hospital corporations in Grey and Bruce.

South Bruce Grey Health Centre will implement the policy on May 31, and the Hanover and District Hospital is going smoke free this summer.

President and CEO Maureen Solecki says their goal is to provide a healthy environment for patients, visitors and health centre workers. She adds staff will work with inpatients to minimize any nicotine withdrawal symptoms they may experience while in hospital, by providing nicotine replacement therapy or other cessation medications.
