Huron East Turbine Issues

The Mayor of Huron East says his council will not pursue a bylaw regarding fire suppression requirements for wind turbines.

One councillor had suggested council adopt a bylaw similar to one passed by the municipality of Brockton.

Bernie MacLellan says Huron East contacted Brockton and found it had no turbines or any applications for turbines.

MacLellan adds his building inspector and fire chief looked into the matter and concluded the municipality does not have the right to pass a bylaw at this time.

They also don’t know what the emergency plan is, because they haven’t seen any building permits, so they would be getting ahead of themselves by passing a bylaw at this point.
