Perth Huron Multicultural Open House

The United Way’s Perth-Huron Multicultural Association held an Open House in Stratford for its partner agencies.

Student co-ordinator Colleen Willert explains the partners provide referrals to newcomers to Huron and Perth to help them become integrated into their new communities.

She adds part of the mandate of the Multicultural Association is to attract newcomers to Huron and Perth because both counties need the skills immigrants bring. But a second part of their mandate is to help host communities make newcomers feel more welcome.

Willert says they also announced new standardized hours at the open house. She explains they had previously been working with a largely volunteer staff and so the hours weren’t as regular. The office at 32 Erie Street in Stratford is now open from 9:00 to 4:30 Monday to Thursday and 9:00 to 4:00 on Fridays.
