Goderich Skate Park Committees Merge
The committee behind a permanent skate park in Goderich and the committee behind the temporary park are now the same committee.
Katrina Bos was supporting the permanent park and spoke to council this week about their concerns that if a temporary park gets built first, that could create the perception that there was no longer a need for a permanent park.
Boss advised council that they had been working with the owner of 360 Bikes and Boards. He had come forward with a plan for the temporary park and Bos says her committee realized that an interim park could be ready this spring. However, the permanent park would not be open until at least next summer, so they are now on the same committee.
Bos adds the interim park could be used as a fund-raiser for the permanent park, and when the permanent park is ready, equipment from the interim park could be used as a portable park for special events.
County agreed to double its contribution to the park to $5,000 and accepted to recommendation to move ahead with the interim skate park.
