Huron County Fire Chiefs are stressing the importance of having a carbon monoxide alarm in your home.

North Huron Chief David Sparling says they are seeing an increase in CO calls. Last month, they responded to three calls where carbon monoxide was found in the homes.

Meanwhile, South Huron Fire Chief John Morgan says while they are not seeing an increase in CO calls, they are experiencing faulty alarms.  Morgan says besides carbon monoxide, they’ve found Swiffer Wet Jets, flooring glues and vaporizing medicine can set off CO alarms.

According to Stats Canada, there has been more than 380 accidential carbon monixde related deaths since the year 2000.
