Minto council wants to take a look at a policy which would ban smoking outdoors on municipal property, particularly children’s playgrounds.

Councillor Ron Elliott, who is calling for the new policy, admits it won’t have any teeth for enforcement, but still may cut down on smoking.

He says the fact that signs are posted, stating the policy, may persuade some smokers to butt out.
Staff will bring a proposed policy for the next council meeting.
