World Water Day Good Reminder To Check Water WellsMarch 22, 2014 10:01am
This is World Water Day and the Perth District Health Unit is using it as a springtime reminder for private well owners.
A public health inspector says testing your well water three times a year will provide an early warning signal to potential bacteria problems. Spring is one of the most important testing periods.
Private well owners in Perth County can have their well water tested for free. Water testing kits are available at the Perth District Health Unit office in Stratford, Knollcrest Lodge in Milverton, the Listowel Memorial Hospital, and at local municipal offices.
Residents are encouraged to call the health unit if they have any questions about their drinking water, or have a poor result after testing their well water.
Well owners who wish to have their water supply tested for fluoride, nitrates, nitrites or pesticides can do so through a private accredited laboratory for a fee.
