Hundreds Of Students Take Part In Regional Skills Challenge photo

Students in the skilled trades from Grey Bruce high schools were put through their paces in the annual Regional Skills Challenge at Georgian College in Owen Sound Friday.

Over 100 students were judged on their abilities in trades like carpentry, welding, machining and the culinary arts.┬áIt’s put on by the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program or OYAP.

Co-ordinator Dave Barrett says the skills challenge points young people toward careers with enormous opportunities.

Some of the top scoring students at the skills challenge in Owen Sound will go on to the Ontario competition in Waterloo in May.
