Huron Seniors Programs Get Federal Funding
Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb presented Huron County’s One Care program with a cheque for $16,000 through the Federal Horizons program on Thursday.
Lobb explained the funding is aimed at helping seniors get out and get more physically active.
One Care Community Programs Manager Jennifer Croft adds this specific grant will help them set up four pilot programs that will train seniors to be mentors to other seniors to help them be better informed about healthy nutrition, falls prevention and physical activity.
Lobb also presented a cheque to the Gateway Rural Health Research Institute in Seaforth for $24,322 for their projects.
The Huron Womens Shelter is receiving $24,450 from the New Horizons for Seniors Program. Huron Haven Seniors Social Club is also getting $23,202 from the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
