Crowd Questions Bruce Telecom Sale
The Tiverton and District Ratepayers Association is not happy with the explanations they got from Kincardine council regarding the sale of Bruce Telecom.
Dozens of members filled the council chambers, seeking answers to their questions regarding the pending $26.5-million sale of Bruce Telecom to Eastlink.
President Bob Wilson presented a list of questions to Mayor Larry Kraemer, largely focused on a perceived lack of transparency from council regarding the sale, as well as their belief that council did not get full value for Bruce Telecom.
The only question Kraemer would not answer was a request to outline the process council went through to reach the sale agreement with Eastlink. Kraemer says they are legally bound by the sale agreement, which forbids him from releasing information regarding the sale.
Wilson says their next course of action might be to file a lawsuit, but Kraemer says council sought advice throughout the sale process and contends council hasn’t done anything illegal. Kraemer says they expect the Bruce Telecom sale to be finalized within the next two months.
