Sloman School Car Concerns Premature

Concerns over Canada Revenue possibly assuming control of the Sloman School Car in Central Huron appear to have been premature.

Mayor Jim Ginn explains Canada Revenue had asked to look at the financial records for the tourist attraction for the last thirty years after a filing for the current year was late.

But Ginn says in looking into the situation they’ve realized the municipality actually owns the car, not the board that looks after it. He adds the municipality can issue tax receipts so it looks like they’ll be able to continue operating.

Ginn calls it an important tourist attraction for Clinton and they don’t want to lose it. He says they might re-structure the board and add someone from the county tourism department and some students to help promote it in the future.
