Suspect arrested after multiple businesses in Kincardine vandalised

Police have made an arrest following a string of vandalism in Kincardine on Monday, June 7.

South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to a report of an individual breaking windows on Queen Street, with the local Enbridge office suffering extensive damage, including three windows and a door left shattered.

Police say they have charged a 39-year-old from the Niagara Region with 11 counts of Mischief under $5,000.

Clean-up efforts began on Queen Street between Lambton and Harbour Streets on Monday afternoon.

Police are urging anyone with additional information related to the incidents to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

In the wake of the vandalism, the town's business improvement area urged local residents to support the affected businesses in the coming days.

"Kincardine, in the next couple days, please make your way #downtownkincardine and support these businesses," a post on the Lakeside Kincardine Downtown Facebook page said. "Even one day of lost business has a substantial impact on our business owners. Kincardine, you know what to do! Come spread your overwhelming local love around this week."
