Bruce Power makes donation to support mental health organizations

Bruce Power has made a significant donation to support local mental health organizations during Mental Health Awareness Month.

$50,000 has been donated by Bruce Power to "support local organizations and Bruce Power employees through funding and programming to help ensure people can get the assistance they need," a release shared.

So far this year, Bruce Power has given donations to support We C.A.R.E. Grey Bruce, WES for Youth Online, Westover Treatment Centre, Bruce Grey Mentorship, PRANCE Therapeutic equestrian centre and Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce and Kincardine and District.

The company also supports several initiatives through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grey Bruce, including youth awareness, Men’s Program, Ride Don’t Hide, community gardens and food forest, and community brunch.

“We recognize that mental health is a key part of one’s overall health and that those affected by mental health issues or illness need access to the resources that can help them,” said Karen Smith, Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Bruce Power.

“Our mission is to cultivate hope, resilience and community for those who live with, and are impacted by, mental illness and/or addiction,” said Jackie Ralph of CMHA Grey Bruce. “As a not-for-profit organization, we rely heavily on our community donors to fund many different programs such as awareness and education and we’re extremely grateful for the assistance that Bruce Power is able to provide.”
