F.E. Madill Girl's Hockey team ready for OFSAA

There's plenty of optimism surrounding F.E. Madill's trip to the OFSAA Championship for Girl's Hockey.

The Mustangs begin pool play Tuesday at the High School championship tournament in Stratford, which pits the top A/AA Girl's Hockey teams against each other in a 12-group format, culminating in the Gold Medal Final to be held on Thursday, March 23 at the Stratford Rotary Complex.

"We're definitely going in the right direction" says head coach Ean Moffat. "We're a far better team than we were at the start of the year. Just getting more familiar with the line combinations."

F.E. Madill dropped a very close 1-0 loss to Listowel District Secondary School on November 28, 2022, but went 4-0-1 over the rest of the regular season, outscoring their opponents 25-7.

The Mustangs avenged the early-season loss to Listowel in the Huron-Perth Semi-Finals, winning 4-2, and following that up with a 3-1 victory over St. Anne's in the Playoff Final. At WOSSAA (Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association), F.E. Madill beat St. Joseph's Catholic Secondary School of Cornwall 4-2 before a triumphant 5-2 win over East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer 5-2 to book their tickets to OFSAA.

F.E. Madill will play two matches on Tuesday, followed by a third group match on Wednesday.
