Cranes in Paisley to install girders for new bridge

Cranes were in Paisley on Tuesday to install girders at the Paisley Bridge construction site.

The bridge, which was built in 1935, has been closed since August, 2022 and has seen a temporary bridge over the Saugeen River installed nearby for a detour while the new bridge is constructed.

Downtown parking is also expected to be effected today (March 15th), although a note on Facebook from the Township of Arran-Elderslie says that nearby Freshmart has offered extra parking while downtown parking lots are closed.

Trucks and larger vehicles are asked to continue avoiding Paisley during the bridge construction, and instead follow the alternate truck route map that has been posted on Bruce County's website.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in September.
