Three charged for driving on closed highways

Ontario Provincial Police in Grey and Bruce counties have laid charges against drivers that traveled on closed highways during the recent blizzard.

OPP say over the course of their duties on December 23, hundreds of calls were received for service across the area, and they confirm that three motorists were charged for driving on a highway that had been closed.

The drivers all face a fine of $110 and three demerit points upon conviction.

OPP remind motorists that highway closures during extreme weather events are for the safety of everyone, and not only is it against the law to drive on a closed highway, you are putting your life, and potentially the lives of first responders, at risk.
