Strathcona Cup curling competition returning to Midwestern Ontario

The historic Strathcona Cup is returning to Port Elgin.

Contested every five years, the Strathcona Cup is the oldest curling competition in the world, and is a battle between Canada and Scotland. The Port Elgin Curling Club will welcome four Scottish teams and four Port Elgin area teams in mid-January. Twenty Scottish curlers are coming this year, and the opening ceremonies will include bagpipes and what's known as a "wee dram."

The first ever Strathcona Cup was held in 1903. This edition of the event will get under way at 9:30 a.m. at the Port Elgin Curling Club on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
