Money comes in for local Crisis Support Program

A one-time funding grant of $500,000 is coming to Grey-Bruce Health Services.

The funding will help support and expand its Crisis Support Program, and the funding was recently announced by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers. The one time funds are being distributed to mental health and addictions organizations as part of the province's mandate under the Roadmap of Wellness, which is being rolled out by the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health.

The mandate came directly from the Minister of Health Sylvia Jones as part of the provincial government's strategy which includes the Roadmap to Wellness.

A release from MPP Byers states that this funding will help enhance and sustain local mental health and addictions supports and programs in the area.

“This investment of one-time funding to Grey Bruce Health Services for their Crisis Support Program will help significantly to ensure that our local residents can receive the care they need in a safe and comfortable setting,” said MPP Byers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a burgeoning mental health and addiction crisis in Ontario.  We are pleased to receive one-time funding to support our crisis services.  These funds will enable us to care for clients in a safe, compassionate environment, and allow us to enhance our patient-centered care,” added Gary Sims, President and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services.
