Open meeting being held for Bayfield residents regarding plan for village's future

Huron County Planning Manager Denise Van Amersfoort is inviting Bayfield and area residents to an open meeting to discuss the secondary plan currently being created for the village of Bayfield.

Van Amersfoort explains the secondary plan looks at how they will manage change in the village,

“Whether that's in the residential areas, the commercial areas. We want to think about protecting the natural areas within the village. The secondary plan lays out more specific direction for Bayfield. It identifies some new park spaces, some active transportation corridors and identifies other priorities," explains Van Amersfoort.

That could include updates to the Heritage Conservation District plan, pedestrian crossings in the village across Highway 21. So she says it's a real opportunity to look at what's working well in the village and what could be changed.

Van Amersfoort says the open meeting will be held Friday November 18, from 10a.m. till 6 p.m. at the Bayfield Public Library

“This is an opportunity for folks to come in, have more informal discussion with staff. We'll then have a formal public meeting, Saturday, November 26th at 9:30 a.m. in the upstairs of the Bayfield Arena and that will be more of a formal presentation from staff," adds Van Amersfoort.

Van Amersfoort says that presentation will be followed with an opportunity for questions and discussions.
