Community Foundation Grey Bruce make nearly $250,000 in grants available

Community Foundation Grey Bruce is making grants available this fall and winter for local charities and non-profits.

Funding totals $248,180, with funding coming through three grant streams. Those are the Kids Can Play Bruce Grey, Fall Community Grants, and Capital Grants. Many local organizations applied to the streams and will be receiving funding, including Community Living Kincardine & District, who applied to the Kids Can Play Bruce Grey grant in partnership with Grey Bruce Play for their “All Kids Can Play” Inclusion Project.

"The project will create training and resources that coaches, volunteers and the community can use to make their programs more inclusive and welcoming for children of all abilities," the release stated.

"Bruce Grey Mentorship applied to the Capital Grant opportunity to improve their outdoor space. In addition to improving safety and accessibility to their location, the $20,000 grant will support a basketball court and outdoor play area for their Mentors and Mentees," the release added. "Other organizations receiving grants from CFGB this fall include Bruce Peninsula Biosphere, Georgian Bay Symphony, Earth Day Grey Bruce, Southampton Arts, Grey Bruce Hospice, The Hanley Institute, and The Meeting Place Tobermory."

“The Kids Can Play Bruce Grey grants let us focus in on youth recreation projects, an area that saw a real decline in applications during COVID,” said Jen Legge, Grants Coordinator at Community Foundation Grey Bruce. “This fall, we saw diverse applications from sports to art workshops and open mic events.”
