Crews have been busy for the last few days along Highway 21 as they get ready to hook up high speed internet to the area.
“They'll continue laying that and doing that work as long as they can before winter sets in. And then, my understanding is as soon as winter sets in, then they start actually connecting homes and connecting the fibres together. So it'll be a few months yet before people start getting high speed, but it's coming," says Central Huron Mayor, Jim Ginn.
Ginn says when they're finally finished, all 41-hundred homes in the municipality should have high speed internet.
“I think that's about 41-hundred residences, but, of course, some areas are serviced already, so the town of Clinton is largely serviced and a few other places are services now. But it's a big project, for sure and we're thrilled to see it happening," Ginn notes.
Ginn cautions, weather will be a factor in completing the project, but he's optimistic it will done in the foreseeable future.
