Victim loses $7,000 in crypto currency fraud scam

A victim of a fraudulent crypto currency scam lost a hefty chunk of cash as a result of being taken advantage of.

Perth County OPP met with a victim in North Perth who met an individual online who was promoting an investing opportunity through crypto currency.  The victim invested $7,000 with the fraudulent investor, and police have launched an investigation as a result. Police are reminding everyone to be wary with their finances, especially online, as online fraud has exploded into a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide. In order to avoid becoming a fraud victim, police say "it is imperative to verify any unsolicited requests before you respond to provide personal information. If you feel pressured, hang up the phone or delete the sender's profile."
