First season of Huron Waves Music Festival a great success

The Artistic Director of the Huron Waves Music Festival says their first season was a great success.

John Miller says it was particularly encouraging after they lost the last two seasons, just as they were ready to launch the inaugural season, because of COVID. Miller says the first event for this season was cancelled because some cast members had COVID issues.

"But after that, six more live concerts, events in twelve different locations. It all made a really good start and very encouraging, so already plans are underway for Huron Waves Music Festival 2023."

Miller says this year was a great start after being derailed the last few seasons.

"It was a great start after the setback of two seasons that we had planned. And plans are well underway, I've been working at it for a couple of weeks already, the board has seen a draft of a basic concept for 2023."

Miller adds, the video they produced last spring was shown on many social media platforms.

"It's also on YouTube, where it's still available. It's called a Huron Waves Spring, 2022. But what's really interesting is how many people have visited the video and the number exceeds 53-thousand."

He adds, that doesn't include the numbers from five local cable systems. Miller says they've still got a long way to go, but the first year has definitely paved the ground work going forward and he adds, it does take a few years for a new festival to build and audience.
