Charitable status given to Saugeen Hospice Inc.

The not-for-profit Saugeen Hospice Inc. has been given charitable status by Canada Revenue Agency.

In a release, Saugeen Hospice Inc. says this status will allow for corporate, organizational, estate and individual donors to contribute to the building of a new hospice that will serve southern Bruce and Grey counties. On June 21st, the Golf Fore Hospice event in support of Saugeen Hospice will take place at the Walkerton Golf and Curling Club. This will be their first major fundraising event since receiving charitable status.

Saugeen Hospice Inc. was founded in 2021, with a "vision to provide compassionate and professional end-of-life services to our communities in a residential hospice facility, serving southern Bruce and Grey Counties."

“We are ecstatic that Saugeen Hospice has met the rigorous standards of the Government of Canada to be designated a charitable entity for tax purposes. Our generous donors in southern Grey and Bruce counties and beyond will now be able to receive tax receipts for any and all donations $20 or greater, from January 1st of this year onwards” shares Carl Kuhnke, Chair of Saugeen Hospice.
