Town offering funding to local property owners to create attainable housing

The Town of St. Marys is offering grants to local property owners to develop attainable housing options.

In a release, the Town of St. Marys says getting more affordable housing options is part of the town's Community Improvement Plan. The release states the plan "provides money to private property owners to support projects that help achieve the municipality’s planning and development goals. One of the major aims of the CIP is to help create a wider range of attainable housing options in St. Marys." Funding for attainable housing projects is available through two main sources: the Downtown Rental Housing Grant and the Accessory Dwelling Unit Grant.

Additionally, the release says that "money is also available to offset the costs of studies, designs, plans and permits, as well as service connection fees that are associated with building or upgrading eligible rental units."

Those interested in applying for CIP grants are encouraged to visit www.townofstmarys.com/CIP to review all available funding opportunities.
