Second in series of local job fairs coming to Wingham

The second in a series of job fairs being hosted by the Huron Manufacturing Association will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Wingham.

Board Chair of the Association, Larry Livingston, says employers are really struggling to fill the positions they have available. But he believes there was some interest from potential employees at the first job fair last week in Clinton.

Livingston says one of the obstacles facing employers is there are some people who could be working but choose not to.

"But if you have others from out of the region, we've got the three things that are really bothering the region and that is infrastructure, housing and all of the related, you know, child care, stuff like that."

He adds, if people don't have their own transportation, there's no way for them to get to Huron County.

Livingston says he's not sure what the number look like so far for the Wingham job fair.

"I don't know about the one in Wingham, but Exeter, I believe there's already ten employers booked. So, Exeter will be well attended. Wingham, I haven't heard any numbers on that yet, but I would expect it should be well attended as well."

Livingston says the job fair in Wingham will run from twelve till six at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Wingham. More information about the job fairs can be found on the Huron Manufacturing Association web site.
