Local road projects receive Connecting Links funding

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker has announced funding for two local roads projects.

In a release, Walker says the Ontario government is investing a total of $1,132,673 to help the City of Owen Sound and the Municipality of Meaford with two road infrastructure projects. Owen Sound is receiving $585,000 for phase 2 of the rehabilitation of 16th Street East, and the Municipality of Meaford is receiving $547,673 for the rehabilitation of structure 037 on Sykes Street North.

According to the release, the government will provide "$30 million to support 16 Connecting Links projects across the province. The funding covers up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs up to a maximum of $3 million for road projects and up to $5 million for bridge projects."

“I’m happy to see the Connecting Links funding continue to flow to our communities in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound,” says MPP Walker. “This investment will get shovels in the ground on these two critical infrastructure projects that are so important for the movement of goods, connecting local residents to their jobs, spurring economic growth and most importantly the health and safety of all residents.”
