Five Huron County municipalities to share Animal Control Officer

Central Huron council has approved a resolution to join a group of five or six other municipalities in sharing an Animal Control Officer to replace Bob Trick, who passed away in August.

Mayor Jim Ginn says they'll need someone to administer the position, so someone will be hired by one municipality and then those services will be shared with all of the other municipalities. Ginn adds, Central Huron council did not feel that they should be the municipality to host it because they're a unionized environment and most municipalities aren't.

Ginn says “We need someone to administer the position, so someone will be hired by one municipality and then those services will be shared with others. But we did not feel that we should be the one to host it because we're a unionized environment and most municipalities aren't".

Ginn also points out that all of the municipalities were left without an Animal Control Officer with the passing of Trick and he says Bob Trick was definitely a unique person and he won't be replace with just one person, so he expects it will take either one and a half or two people to replace him.

And Ginn says Central Huron will join the others in the group and hire the people required to do the job, saying “You know we're all short of an Animal Control Officer and Bob was a unique fella and we will not replace him with one person, we feel it'll take either one and a half or two people to replace him".
