The Spirit of Success Awards Gala, hosted by Chamber of Commerce for Goderich, North and Central Huron, will be held this Thursday night.
The winners will be announced during a Facebook Live event at 7:30 tomorrow night. Chamber Operations Manager, Heather Boa, says one of the few positive impacts of the pandemic is that in some ways it has brought communities together. Boa says two years ago they received 26 nominations and this year they got almost fifty and she believes part of the reason for that is that, through the pandemic, communities have really forged a relationship with the local businesses.
"They've really forged a relationship with the local businesses and the businesses have gone out of their way to change the way that they do things to accommodate their customers during a very difficult time."
Boa says the result is the community appreciates the extra effort being made by local businesses and they want to see those businesses recognized for their efforts.
Boa says they also have three new awards this year.
"We have the Compass Minerals Environmental and Sustainability Award, the K2 Wind Ontario Manufacturing and Technology Award and the John C. Grace Young Entrepreneur Award. Those are all new this year, which is fantastic."
