Allenford Curling Club to reopen following Community Building grant

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker was in Allenford earlier this week to congratulate members of the Allenford Curling Club, who found out back in October about a grant that will allow the club to safely reopen after 20 months.

In a release, Walker says a year-long Community Building grant of just over $26,000 will be used to help the club purchase sanitizing equipment, plexiglass barriers for the bar and kitchen areas, new signage and modify procedures to allow for the safe reopening of the club as COVID-19 restrictions lessen.

Allenford Curling Club Secretary Rodger Dougall said "As a curling club in small community, the Board of Directors was concerned that the Allenford Curling Club would not be in a financial position to re-open this year, but with the Ontario Trillium Foundation's support, we are able to make the reopening happen".

Walker adds that he's "delighted to see that members will be able to participate and return to such as activities as part of COVID-19 recovery, and help ensure the availability of this vibrant community which will benefit everyone for future generations to enjoy".
