New water tower unveiled in Markdale

Members of Grey Highlands council were on hand to cut the ribbon on a new water tower in Markdale earlier this week.

Mayor Paul McQueen was joined by Environmental Services Director Shawn Moyer in turning the water on in a small celebration.

MacQueen says "The timing couldn't be any better (for this water tower) because of new development happening around Markdale. it's coming together, along with a proposed new school and the new hospital, it's exciting in the sense that it's all coming together at the same time". The structure, built by Landmark Structures out of Burlington, will see Markdale residents noticing better pressure compared to the older system, and the new tank has a capacity of 2,900 cubic metres (compared to 1,900 metres in the old tank.
