Perth County Warden issues statement on passing of former Warden David Shearer

Perth County Warden Jim Aitcheson has released a statement following the passing of former Warden and longtime councillor, David Shearer.

Shearer served three consecutive terms as Perth County Warden from 1998 to 2000, and when he first became Warden in 1998, he was the head of the newly configured 10 member Perth County Council which was designed to represent the county's four amalgamated municipalities. Shearer was a proud resident of Milverton, and was an active supporter of St. Paul's United Church and the Milverton Legion. He was also very involved in local sports, and was one of the key members in bringing the Perth East Recreational Complex to Milverton.

In addition to his public service on council, Shearer also served as chair of the board of Knollcrest Lodge, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Eastern Star.

Current Perth County Warden Jim Aitcheson issued the following statement:

"It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of former Warden and County Council Member David Shearer. On behalf of County Council and Staff I want to offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends. In honour of his life and public service to our region, flags will remain lowered at all County facilities from today until Friday, October 22, 2021."
