Daily walk-ins for vaccinations being accepted now in Huron-Perth

Huron Perth Public Health has announced they will now be accepting walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations daily.

Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen, says there are about 30,000 eligible residents in the region who have yet to receive their first dose of vaccine.

"The common link that we are seeing among those who are becoming ill from COVID-19 now is that they are not vaccinated. Getting vaccinated definitely means that you are less likely to get infected and suffer severe outcomes from COVID-19."

Klassen encourages everyone in the region who's eligible for a first or second dose, to receive the shot at one of the health unit's clinics between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

"This is a good time for anyone who does not have the first or second dose to get your vaccination. We have an increased vaccine supply and a 28 day interval for the second dose. Anyone not protected yet can still become fully vaccinated by the Labour Day weekend."

To date, Huron Perth has had a total of 1,931 confirmed cases, 1,861 recoveries, and 57 deaths.
