Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority General Manager, Brian Horner, presented the board with the second quarter profit and loss statement at their last meeting.
Horner says, for the most part, they're pretty well on target.
"For the most part, we're pretty on target and if I try to forecast it out for the end of the year, what I'm thinking right now is we should be pretty much on target to what we thought in our original budget. All in all, in this day and age, I think we're pretty happy with it."
Horner also presented the board with the draft five-year forecast.
"At this time, what we do, it's kind of like a wish-list. We go to staff and ask, ok, what projects are we thinking we're going to have to do over the next few years. So we put them all together and what we're proposing, with the general project levy, is about maybe a three and a half percent increase over all in the next five years."
There are still a lot of questions, though, as Horner says. They are going through the Conservation Authority Act process right now.
"We're certainly going through the C-A Act process. Again, at this stage, the transitions, it's proposing that by January 1st, 2023, we have to have some M-O-Us in place with member municipalities."
Horner also points out, this forecast doesn't distinguish between programs, so it's all-encompassing and in the five-year forecast, he's assuming Provincial funding will be the same as it is now, or slightly less and the clean water funding will be the same.
