Charges laid following domestic assault investigation in Hanover

The Hanover Police Service have arrested and charged a 21-year-old Hanover resident following a domestic violence investigation.

On July 14th at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a woman screaming followed by a violent struggle at an apartment in Hanover. The investigation found that the 21-year-old accused broke into his estranged girlfriend's apartment through a second story window, violently attacked her, and forced her into a vehicle. The female attempted to escape the vehicle just north of Hanover, and a good samaritan witnessed this, called police and helped the female after she was left on the side of the road by the accused, who fled the scene.

The accused was located by police a short time later and now faces a long list of charges, including Break and Enter, Forcible Confinement, Uttering Death Threats, Kidnapping and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The accused has been remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
