Police lay numerous drug charges against pair

Huron County OPP arrested and charged two people with numerous drug offences following a vehicle stop in Wingham.

On July 1st just after 11 a.m., officers in Wingham spotted a person in a vehicle who was wanted for offences in Huron County and Stratford. Police were able to block the suspect’s vehicle in on Josephine Street and the wanted person was taken into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine. The total street value of the seized drugs is nearly $2,500. Officers also seized cell phones and almost $2,900 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 43-year-old Huron East resident, as well as a 38-year-old from Holyrood, with numerous drug charges including possession with the purpose of trafficking. The arrested party in Wingham remains in custody with a court date scheduled for July 13th in Goderich. The second accused charged after the fact has been released with a court date for August 9th.
