Police execute massive drug bust

The Grey-Bruce OPP executed a massive drug bust recently in Meaford.

On June 30th, Grey-Bruce OPP officers  conducted the bust alongside the Community Street Crimes Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Canine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, OPP Provincial Assets and Forfeiture Unit and the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Team. A search warrant was executed on a property in Meaford. Police seized 11,309 illegal cannabis marihuana plants, as well as numerous other offence related assets. The total value of the property seized is estimated at approximately $12,150,830.

As a result, police charged 7 individuals, 1 from Toronto, 3 from Scarborough, 2 from Markham and 1 of no fixed address, ranging in age from 29 to 63. All 7 face numerous drug related and trafficking charges. The accused are all scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 29th in Owen Sound to answer to the charges.
