Free business webinar hosted by county aims to teach entrepreneurs importance of business plans

This week's free webinar, hosted by Huron County's Economic Development Department, is a must for people starting their own business.

Entrepreneur and Business Program Coordinator, Brittany Wise, says creating a business plan is one of the most important things a person can do when they're considering striking out on their own. Wise says it's not unusual to hear from people who didn't create a business plan before they started their business.

"So then when they come to a session like this and they learn all of the stuff that could be in it, they are able to be more successful in their business because they've thought through all of those elements that are in that business plan and so it's a really valuable tool to have."

Wise says another benefit of creating a business plan is it can help people realize what they can do on their own and what they need help with. She says, quite often people with a very marketable skill don't realize what other skills they need to make their business succeed, things like marketing, sales and book-keeping.

"Looking at where you can hire and where you can contract stuff out and what you can do yourself and how you can grow your business with other people. I think they're a really great series of sessions that are helpful to any new start-up."

Wise says the webinars will be very helpful to any new start-up and they run throughout May and June starting at noon. Tomorrow's (May 11th) is about creating a business plan and more information about future webinars and how to join in can be found on the Huron County Economic Development web site.
