Arrest made in connection with local robbery

The Perth County OPP have made an arrest in connection to a recent robbery in Listowel.

On April 28th just after 9:30 p.m., police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Listowel Memorial Park on Royal Street East, Listowel. The suspect had allegedly assaulted two youths, and stole a backpack and two scooters. No weapons were used and the victims were not injured. The backpack and one scooter were recovered that night and the second scooter was found abandoned the following day. The Perth County Crime Unit helped officers identify the suspect, and after an investigation, police arrested the 17-year-old accused of no fixed address after they were spotted in the area of Armstrong Street West, in Listowel. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle, and then on foot, but was located hiding in a backyard nearby.

The accused youth has been charged with Robbery with Violence and Fail to Comply with Sentence. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
