The Chair of the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation says the pandemic definitely presented them with some challenges through the 2020/2021 fiscal year.
But Darren Stevenson says, despite the challenges, they were able to transfer just over one million, nine-thousand dollars to the Clinton Public Hospital for capital equipment and various projects.
Stevenson says the biggest challenge was having to cancel their major fund-raiser for the year.
"We typically have fund-raising events, but, of course last year we weren't about to host our significant gala that we hold every other year. And historically that's been a huge fund-raiser for us."
Stevenson also points out that most of the equipment in hospitals is purchased with money raised by the Foundation through donations and bequests. He notes a big part of the funds transferred to the hospital over the last fiscal year will go towards the operating room.
"A big chunk of it was to the operating room and the Medical Devices Reprocessing Department. That was a huge undertaking to refurbish those rooms. And we were also able to purchase a Bone Mineral Densitometry Unit, which measures bone density."
Stevenson says they're currently in the process of choosing a project for the coming year, but he says it's a very long list, in part because of the improvements being made in technology, but he adds, they're very grateful for the support of the community in their local hospital.
