Numerous charges laid following domestic assault investigation by police

Huron County OPP have a suspect in custody after laying dozens of charges following a recent domestic violence investigation.

On April 2nd, officers responded to a call from a residence in South Huron concerning a domestic disturbance that had just occurred. Police spoke with both parties involved and determined the accused had assaulted the victim with a weapon. Police also learned the accused threatened to kill the victim. When police attempted to arrest the accused they resisted and fled on foot, but police apprehended them after a short foot pursuit. Police searched the accused and found they were in possession of a prohibited switchblade knife.

As a result, a 33-year-old South Huron resident faces numerous charges, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possession of prohibited weapon, as well as resisting arrest. The accused remains in custody and has a court date scheduled for later this spring.
