Late night fire destroys woodworking building
A recent late night fire in Saugeen Shores destroyed a woodworking building.
On March 24th at 11 p.m., the Saugeen Shores Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire at a wood manufacturing facility on the Bruce/Saugeen Town Line. Crews arrived to find a rapidly developing fire moving throughout a non-residential two-storey building. 57 firefighters from the Port Elgin, Southampton, Paisley and Tiverton fire stations responded and were on the scene for eight hours. The business owners were in a separate structure and no injuries occurred as a result of the blaze.
The structure was deemed a complete loss with damages at roughly 1 million dollars. The cause of the fire is unknown but it is not suspicious in nature. The building was a custom woodworking facility in operation for over 30 years.
