Huron County is in the process of reviewing its official plan.
County Planner, Monica Walker-Bolton explains the official plan is a land-use planning document that sets the vision for how municipalities in the county will develop.
"It provides that vision for all of the local municipalities for when the local municipalities are making their own official plan. And the legislation that allows municipalities to plan for land use comes from the Province of Ontario."
She adds, part of that legislation says the official plan should be updated every five years. Walker-Bolton says the review says the review was actually underway in late 2019, but the public meetings that are part of the process were interrupted by COVID-19. So they've had to change how they do that.
"We really had to change our way of doing things because of COVID-19 and county council and our local municipalities have really led the way on showing how zoom can be used as a way of posting perfectly acceptable community consultations."
The last public meeting, as Walker-Bolton notes, will be a virtual meeting, held on March 30th at seven o'clock. Anyone interested in sitting in on that meeting can go to the Huron County web site and follow the contact information provided there to ask for the link to the meeting.
