Kincardine Council looking for public input regarding Summer Access Area

Kincardine Council is asking for some public input regarding a potential repeat of the Queen Street Promenade pilot project from last year.

Referred to as a Summer Access Area, as businesses began struggling during the initial COVID-19 wave locally, Kincardine tried out a Queen Street Promenade project to drive local shopping. In a release on February 10th, the Municipality of Kincardine says Queen Street was closed to vehicles from North of Durham Market Street North to Lambton Street, Friday evenings through Sunday evenings and weekly throughout July and August last year to "support opportunities for physical distancing, greater economic potential and adherence to public health protocols." Council is now looking for feedback from the public in the interest of potentially doing this again.

With public input, Kincardine is hoping to identify any issues from last year's event and solutions to those potential issues, specifically regarding things like dates of closure and geography of the closure area and accessibility. The survey is available now at http://www.kincardinetalks.ca, until February 20th at 10 a.m.
