UPDATE: COVID-19 confirmed at several Huron Perth schools

Huron-Perth Public Health reports cases of COVID-19 in several local schools.

Public health Officer Dr. Miriam Klassen said an outbreak has been declared at Northside Christian School near Listowel because one staff member listed tested positive.

"Due to the nature of this school, one cohort could not be identified, therefore the school has been closed until December 1. Huron Perth Public health will determine when the outbreak is over and the school can be reopened," she explained.

"An outbreak is declared in a school when there are two or more cases of COVID-19 in students, and/or staff, or other visitors, within a 14-day period, where at least one case would have contracted the virus in the school setting," she added.

A cohort has been dismissed at Goderich District Collegiate institute as a an investigation begins into a recently identified case there.

COVID-19 has been confirmed at Anne Hathaway in Stratford, St. Ambrose School in Stratford, and a few private Christian schools in both Huron and in Perth.

"In the case of Anne Hahtaway, it was determined that the person did attend school while infectious, and therefore a cohort has been dismissed. Huron Perth Public health continues its contact tracing work and following up with affected families" said Klassen.
