Police investigating death in First Nations community

Grey-Bruce OPP and Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service have commenced an investigation into the death of a young female.

On November 2nd at 1:39 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Nayaushing Road, Neyaashiinigmiing for a person with absent vital signs. Police were assisted by Chippewas of Nawash Fire Department and Bruce County Paramedic services and discovered a 30-year-old female at the residence who was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as Ericka Ashkewe-Jones from Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.

Members of the Neyaashiinigmiing Police Service, Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death.
